High-corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant multi-stage pumps are widely used in industrial, agricultural, and construction fields for fluid transportation, mainly for transporting corrosive and abrasive media. However, in practical applications, foreign objects sometimes appear in the effluent, which not only affects the pump's operating efficiency but may also damage the equipment and pipelines. The following is an analysis of the causes of foreign objects in the effluent of high-corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant multi-stage pumps.
I. Problems with the Medium Itself
When the transported medium contains solid particles, impurities, or fibers, these foreign objects may be sucked in and discharged by the pump along with the fluid. This problem is more likely to occur when handling media containing mud, dust, etc.
II. Internal Pump Wear
Due to long-term scouring and corrosion by the medium, the internal components of the multi-stage pump, such as the impeller and sealing rings, may wear out. These worn components may produce metal fragments or other impurities, which are discharged with the water flow.
III. Seal Failure
Poor sealing performance of the pump may cause external contaminants to enter the inside or internal media leakage. For example, the failure of mechanical seals or packing seals may allow foreign objects to enter or impurities generated by the wear of internal parts to flow out with the water.
IV. Pipeline Contamination
Foreign objects in the pipeline, such as rust scale and sediment, may be sucked in and discharged by the pump along with the fluid. This is more likely to occur in pipelines that have not been used for a long time or in old pipelines.
V. Operation and Maintenance Issues
Non-standard installation, commissioning, operation, or maintenance may lead to a decline in pump performance or even the discharge of foreign objects. For example, failure to regularly clean and maintain the inside and outside of the pump may cause accumulated impurities and dirt to be pumped out.
In view of the above reasons, the following measures can be taken to reduce the foreign objects in the effluent of high-corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant multi-stage pumps:
1. Pre-treat the medium to remove solid particles and impurities.
2. Regularly inspect and maintain the internal components of the pump and replace worn parts in a timely manner.
3. Ensure good sealing performance of the pump to prevent external contaminants from entering.
4. Regularly inspect and maintain the pipeline system to remove accumulated impurities and dirt.
5. Standardize installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance procedures to ensure the normal operation of the pump.
