The structure principle and function characteristics of single-stage centrifugal pump

2024-06-11

Single-stage centrifugal pump refers to a centrifugal pump with an impeller. It is divided into single-stage single-suction centrifugal pump and single-stage double-suction centrifugal pump. Due to many advantages such as high efficiency and simple structure, it is widely used in industrial and agricultural production and life. In order to transport materials such as clear water, mud, acid, alkali, salt solution and liquid organic matter. And because of the single-stage centrifugal pump material, the structure is different, can transport different media.

The single-stage centrifugal pump is composed of a pump body, a pump cover, a motor device with an output shaft, etc. The pump shaft, bearing seat, impeller, mechanical seal and mechanical seal gland structural components installed in the pump body are included. There is a device between the output shaft of the motor and the pump shaft called a sandwich coupling, or a device installed on the bearing seat, called a guide bearing that helps support the pump shaft.

The so-called pump is the prime mover (such as motor) mechanical energy (mostly refers to kinetic energy) into the liquid into the liquid potential energy or kinetic energy of the machine. There are many types of pumps. Because centrifugal pumps have the advantages of simple structure, small size, light weight, stable flow, easy manufacturing and easy maintenance, they are widely used. According to the requirements of use, centrifugal pumps can be divided into single-stage pumps and multi-stage pumps according to the number of impellers. According to the impeller suction way can be divided into single suction and double suction.

Single-stage pump refers to a pump with only one impeller, with a maximum head of only 125 meters. Multi-stage pump refers to a pump with two or more impellers, and the maximum lift can exceed 125 meters. Multi-stage pump can be equipped with four-stage motors by increasing the number of impellers when the lift of single-stage pump needs to be equipped with two-stage motors, thus improving the service life of the pump and reducing the noise of the unit. However, maintenance of multi-stage pump is a little more difficult than that of single-stage pump.

The function and characteristics of each component of 1. centrifugal pump

1. Pump shaft: transfer rotation torque and force;

2. Impeller: convert motor input torque into water flow kinetic energy;

3. Guide vane ring: control the direction and position of water flow;

4. Pump casing: reduce the loss of kinetic energy of water flow and maintain the appropriate water flow speed;

5. Mechanical seal: to prevent water leakage and debris;

Work flow of 2. single-stage centrifugal pump

In the working process of a single-stage centrifugal pump, the motor drives the shaft to rotate, which in turn drives the impeller to rotate. The water flow passes through the impeller and is thrown up to 200 meters, and leads to the outlet pipe through the sealed cavity, and finally is discharged from the outlet.

Structural principle of 3. single-stage centrifugal pump

Single-stage centrifugal pump is a direct relationship between flow and head pump, its structure is divided into the following parts:

1. Pump shell: The pump shell is the shell of the pump body, which is used to accommodate and support the pump shaft and impeller. Usually cast iron or steel plate welding forming, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, high temperature resistance and other characteristics.

2. Impeller: The impeller is the core component of the centrifugal pump, which is used to convert the mechanical energy provided by the motor to the fluid pressure energy, make the fluid rotate along the static state of the pump shaft, and transfer the kinetic energy of the water to the inlet.

3. Pump shaft: The pump shaft is designed as a long bearing to support the pump casing and impeller, with emphasis on the smoothness of pump operation and the transmission of torque to the drive.

4. Guide vane ring: The guide vane ring is the gap between the impeller and the pump casing, which helps to control the direction of fluid flow and the position of the impeller.

5. mechanical seal: mechanical seal is to prevent water from the pump shaft seal leakage, to prevent air and other debris into the pump, but also to prevent debris mixed into the pump shaft and impeller, affecting the production efficiency of the pump. Mechanical seals have two forms of single-ended and double-ended seals, and usually use a combination of mechanical seals and oil seals.

Problems and Improvement Direction of 4. Single-stage Centrifugal Pump in Practical Application

1. The durability of the pump group is poor: the centrifugal pump is susceptible to physical damage and mechanical wear during use, resulting in a short life of the pump group;

2. Impeller design is not scientific: centrifugal pump impeller structure design is not appropriate, easy to cause the discharge efficiency drop;

3. mechanical seal easy to wear: centrifugal pump mechanical seal parts wear seriously, easy to cause water leakage and pump body quality decline.

In order to improve these problems, centrifugal pumps need to be improved in the following aspects:

1. Use high strength and corrosion resistant materials;

2. Optimize the structural design of the impeller to improve the emission efficiency;

3. Design more durable mechanical seal.

In the actual application and maintenance of centrifugal pumps, regular inspection and maintenance are required to ensure the normal operation of the pump.
